EMT
Jimmy Volin
Jimmy Volin is a Wyoming native whose life has been deeply shaped by the mountains and wild landscapes he calls home. From an early age, he immersed himself in the outdoors, fostering a deep appreciation for the wilderness. This passion led him to work as a guide, both in the snowy backcountry of the mountains and the arid depths of the Grand Canyon. It was during these experiences that he discovered his interest in wilderness medicine, responding to emergencies and providing care in remote settings. Now, James serves as an EMT for Star Valley EMS, where he has been instrumental in developing the organization's backcountry rescue program, bringing his unique blend of wilderness expertise and medical training to the community he serves

Cooper Jensen
A proud Wyoming native, Cooper has dedicated over 15 years to the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), demonstrating unwavering commitment and expertise. With 9 years of experience providing patient care in the backcountry, Cooper holds a Flight Paramedic Certification, showcasing advanced skills in high-stakes emergency situations.
Beyond patient care, Cooper is a passionate educator and mentor. He has taught EMT Basic and Advanced EMT courses, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of EMS professionals. As a seasoned preceptor, Cooper has guided countless paramedics, shaping them into confident and capable practitioners.
With a deep connection to his roots and a dedication to service, Cooper is driven to share his knowledge and skills, ensuring others are prepared to respond in emergencies with confidence and care.

Registered Nurse, BSN
Wyatt Matteson
Wyatt Matteson, a Wisconsin native, has a Bachelor’s in Nursing and extensive experience in Med- surg, ER, and as a Critical Care Transport Nurse. His work in high-pressure situations has equipped him with the skills needed to respond effectively in emergencies.
In 2020, Wyatt moved to Wyoming to become a big game hunting guide in Star Valley, and later expanded his guiding career to remote Alaska. During this time, he and his partners recognized a gap in emergency preparedness knowledge, inspiring them to create a business focused on equipping people with life-saving skills.
Combining his healthcare expertise with wilderness experience, Wyatt is committed to providing hands-on training that empowers individuals—whether outdoor enthusiasts, healthcare workers, or the general public—to confidently handle emergencies, both in the backcountry and at home.
